Discovering The David
This is David's countrysideAnd He is there with his new bride.
He's not solo, but a duet
A song beginning when they met.
This honeymoonHe found the time to read a bookAnd time to think and time to look
For new adventures, then to tell
True stories and he told them well.
Began the tuneFor these became a part of meWere visions heard for me to see
Around a campfire burning bright,
He told his stories day or night.
Lyrics soft hewnHow much he loved, how much he cared. How hard he worked, how much he shared!
These were the mountains that he climbed,
Adults or children close behind.
In words attuneTo see the wonder of what's "now",Then to plan ahead and how.
For things like these are but a few
Of the many things learned from you.
Notes in a scaleAnd then I see him circle round,Dressed in his best and homeward bound,
Or in his cap to cheer on friends,
Wondering where the next road ends.
They'll all dove-tailThe journey goes on with many viewsUntil it is no longer news
He finds importance in the face...
That's raised in print beside his place
With nightingaleFor Carol is with him all alongWith him, she makes his life a song,
She stands beside him, helps him brave
The World. It's always Carol and Dave!
In musaic tale.
With love from your daughter, Marilyn
